Europe is insanely warm right now. It has never been this warm so late in the year for some. Can't believe it is only 43 days until Christmas.

Correction: the volcano featured in the video is Volcan de Agua. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcán_de… It was taken between the Convento Santa Clara and Tanque La Union on a street that runs north-south. Acatenango is west of Antigua Guatemala. Volcan de Agua is south. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acatenango

Brace yourself. One of the most brutal Arctic cold outbreaks on record is gathering momentum and moving through North America right now. Wind chills are hitting extremely dangerous levels of -70°F (-57°C) in Wyoming.

We have not seen anything like it. We can't compare this looming heat emergency to summer 1976. A warmer world, thanks to human induced climate change, makes it almost effortless to break extreme heat thresholds. We continue to see this across the planet - not just in Europe.

I didn't think it was possible, not in my lifetime anyway. +49.6°C in Canada 🇨🇦 That is 121°F! This is the story of the Canadian heat record that was crushed on 3 consecutive days by an unfathomable margin of +4.6°C (+8°F). This moment will be talked about for centuries.

I can't believe I am writing this. Canada 🇨🇦 has obliterated its national all-time heat record *for the second day in a row*. Before yesterday, greater than 45°C had never been recorded. As far as climatology is concerned, this is deeply shocking.

Spain, u ok? Alicante 🇪🇸 just recorded +29.2 °C today. Not so long ago, some parts of Spain were sub -20 °C with deep snow cover. January has been one heck of a rollercoaster for our Spanish friends.
