    Period poverty affects an estimated 500 million people WORLDWIDE. Period poverty is a bigger problem on the African continent, so many people cannot afford sanitary items and are forced to use cloths and rags. For some women, the cost of menstruation is missing out on life.

    Today, @freesanitarypad visited the Women’s Maximum Prison, KiriKiri, Lagos. We got to talk with them about rehabilitation and the issues they face both in and out of prison. We can’t post images because the inmates identities have to be protected. (1)

    SANG visited two schools in Jos yesterday. First we visited Government secondary school, Bukuru, Jos and reached a 100 girls. Re-useable pads were distributed and the girls were taught how to use and clean them as awell as general period hygiene.
