00:00 - Everyone, please meet Officer Housand. Last night SSPD responded to PDR @ JFR regarding kittens being thrown from a moving vehicle. Officer Housand located one kitten safe and unharmed.
- The Sandy Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing person. Thelma Ferguson was last seen by her family on March 23, 2020 after leaving her Sandy Springs home.
- Moragan Falls Dam is currently flooded, please avoid the area.
00:00 - Replying to @SandySprings_PDAnimal control was requested but would be delayed due other calls. While trying to decide what to do with the kitten, Officer Housand fell in love with it and decided to keep it as a new addition to his family.
- 1 of our officers was on “routine” patrol when he came upon this vehicle stopped on the side of the highway. As he went to investigate, little did he know that he was about to help delivery a baby. Welcome to the world baby, Noah!
- We are asking everyone to please stay off the roads. We are experiencing a high number of 911 calls for fallen trees. This incident happened at Johnson Ferry/Climbers Way. Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
- 3 in custody, 2 weapons seized after suspects in a car wave guns at road crew on Powers Ferry-Raider Dr.
- We have received questions from our residents asking if we will still respond to vehicle crashes as they have heard other departments will no longer respond to certain crashes. We have and will continue to respond to ALL crashes and ALL emergencies.
- We want to let our residents & business owners know that SSPD is monitoring the current situation happening all around metro Atlanta. We are in constant communication w/ neighboring jurisdictions & our Intelligence Unit is actively monitoring social media conversations.
- Moments ago, APD’s Fugitive Unit was able to track down a perpetrator involved in a shooting. As they entered Sandy Springs, they requested our assistance and our Officers responded. While in the area of GA-400 South near Hammond Drive, our Officers attempted to stop the fugitive
- A SSPD Officer heard something crying in the bushes behind our HQ. As he continued to investigate, he found a crying baby squirrel that had fallen from its nest. The Officer rescued the baby squirrel and nursed it for a few days until he found a wild life reserve organization.
00:00 - ***UPDATE TO OFFICER’S CONDITION** I’m happy to report that our Officer, despite receiving multiple stab wounds has been released from @GradyHealth Hospital. He is doing extremely well and is recovering at home with his loved ones. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.The PIO has arrived. Media staging location will be at the corner of Cameron Glen Dr at Cameron Glen Ct. Update to the Officer status: he is being treated and responded well.
