Social Security has contracts with every state that allow parents to register their newborns for Social Security cards at the hospital. They also contract with states to find out when people die. A week ago, the Trump Admin canceled both contracts with one state — Maine.

REMINDER: Social Security cannot by law add even a penny to the deficit. Any proposal to cut Social Security benefits as a means of deficit reduction is just a ploy to steal your earned benefits!

Rep. Richard Neal: The average benefit is $24,000. That means half the people who get Social Security get less than $24,000 a year. That's less than 400 bucks a week. So for me, not a dime to be cut from Social Security, not a dime.
