TV news need to stop saying George Floyd “died in police custody.” As journalists, we need to say what really happened... he did not have a heart attack or a stroke. Floyd was KILLED in police custody.

- Chicago Public Schools just announced that all staff will be required to be vaccinated.
- A Park Manor Elementary School parent says she can not understand how CPS can say it is wrong to test or vaccinate students at the school when the dentist comes and the eye doctor comes.
- As of today, 2,308 Chicago Public School staff are in quarantine and 10,898 students. CPS has yet to respond my questions about where staff are quarantining.
- From Capital Fax followed up with the governor’s office about what Pritzker was offering CPS and he was told the state had offered SHIELD tests, vaccination clinics and masks for the past several weeks. The city has not yet taken the state up on those offers.
- MASS EXODUS AT CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS... Now I have confirmed that CPS CEO Janice Jackson is leaving Chicago Public Schools. Also, Chief Education Officer LaTanya McDade previously announced she is leaving. Also, chief operating officer Arnie Riveria is going...
- University of Chicago, one of the hardest colleges in the country to get into, has to remind its students to look both ways when crossing the street?
- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot gave press 20 minutes to get to her press conference so alas because we, at WBEZ, do not live downtown and do not own helicopters... we won't be able to make it there. We will be listening like everyone else.
- Chicago Public Schools just announced Jones College Prep principal removed pending results of an investigation into student dressed as a German soldier for Halloween. The student displayed his costume doing a march and a salute that was reminiscent of a Nazi soldier.
- Chicago’s biggest high school votes to remove police officers from school building...BREAKING: Lane Tech HS votes to remove their School Resource Officers. Motion to keep the SROs fails 9-3.
- Lightfoot and Preckwrinkle both support a fully elected school board. They both said they would not close schools. And maybe the election of either one... means the end, or at least a major pause, in the charter school movement in Chicago.
- The hardest thing about being a long time education reporter covering a big city where most students come from low income families is not to accept for these students what education experts say is unacceptable, what wealthier parents would not accept.
- Yes. Teens going to the beach or downtown on a beautiful night is not a riot and should not be a problem. These should be safe places. Period.
