For many observers, this chant might seem like an ordinary victory chant but, in fact, this is the core of the conflict. These groups are not asking to foster peace, but to erase the only Jewish state, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. This is a call for genocide.

The Druze are a religious minority in Israel & an integral part of the IDF from its inception until today. From April 25-28, the Druze celebrate the holiday of the Prophet Shu'aib (Jethro). Here are two Druze soldiers with the five color Druze flag. We wish them a happy holiday!

The fact that people do not realize this, and that a group can leave student government feeling a call for genocide is a legitimate chant, is exactly why we oppose this referendum.

We stayed quiet, upset, but not defeated. SSI, along with other pro-Israel groups on our campus will inform students on the antisemitic repercussions of this referendum, its negation to real dialogue, and will not let this pass the next stage.

We urge students to see that this will only divide our campus, will only being hatred to our campus, will only harm our Jewish and pro-Israel students and, most importantly, that it is completely unjust.

Last night, Columbia College Student Council voted to send a BDS referendum to the students. After a very emotionally-stirred, difficult, long vote, the motion passed by exactly one vote.

After it was announced, members of SJP and JVP screamed, boasted in excitement, at the top of their lungs. They left the room, filling Lerner with echoes of “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Scientist Issac Newton did not only write about science, but also about how the Jewish Temple should look like. His manuscript was based on the biblical book of Ezekiel which contains the description of the Temple. In descriptions in English, he added notes handwritten in Hebrew.

Rosa Parks and MLK were zionists because they understood that civil rights are for all people, including the Jewish people. We applaud them for everything they fought for and everything they represent and condemn the attempts to undermine their great legacy.

Today in 1939, Jewish Refugee Ship, The SS St. Louis, a ship carrying Jewish refugees fleeing from Nazi Germany, returned to Europe after being refused entry into both Cuba and the United States. Today, when we have Israel, Jews always have a place to go.

In honor of the campaign #shukrandruze which aims to honor Israeli Druze who serve in the IDF, we’d like to highlight Majd Bader who came speak to us about his experience as a minority in Israel this week! Shukran Druze and Shabbat Shalom!
