Today, SCOTUS ruled that “an employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender defies the law.” This is a major legal victory. Our fight to create a world without workplace discrimination for trans people, disproportionately trans people of color, goes on.

Abolition requires that we build the conditions for resourced communities to thrive without police, incarceration, surveillance, or criminalization.

Sylvia Rivera passed 18 years ago today, on February 19, 2002. We honor her life, leadership, and commitment to liberation for our communities: trans & gender non-conforming people of color, low-income TGNC people, sex workers, immigrants, incarcerated people, homeless people.

We are just learning that a trans woman was found killed in an apartment in the Bronx. She is being misgendered by the @nypost. We believe what we are hearing, and if this is accurate, she would be the 20th Black trans woman murdered in 2019 alone.
