    Today's tokusatsu streetwear spotlight is a personal one. It's the reversible bomber jacket used in 36 of the 47 episodes of Kamen Rider BLACK RX, and episode 7 of Juukou B-Fighter. This is the story of how tokusatsu taught me the importance of archival fashion. (1/???)

    The #PowerRangers Cosmic Fury will be using zord footage from the Super Sentai series Kyuranger, but elected NOT to adapt any of the actual suits. Now that we've seen all the suits for Cosmic Fury, what do you think? Kyuranger suits vs Cosmic Fury suits ... sound off!

    You don't watch Digimon: The Movie for a faithful dub of animated Japanese movies. You watch Digimon: The Movie for a time capsule of the bizarre cultural assimilation machine that Japanese-produced media was required to go through to even exist in the US in the first place.

    FUN FACT: This was adapted from the King of the Hill crossover episode of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, where Hank bravely had to fill in for Geki as TyrannoRanger.

    WAIT JUST A MINUTE. The red, green, blue, and yellow vehicles in this exhibit ARE THE SURVIVING MINIATURES FROM TURBO: A POWER RANGERS MOVIE. The hyper-mechanical surface details are unmistakable. The last photo is a Japanese magazine highlighting the Turbo movie's production.

    They're not going to do it. But in my dream world where Bandai expanded into telecommunications, I would ABSOLUTELY purchase versions of these that actually functioned as real phones you could call people with, complete with working backlit LCD screens and custom UI.

    Hollywood superhero action can only DREAM to aspire reaching the standards of Japanese superhero action. I cannot state enough how vastly and pathetically undercooked big budget Hollywood blockbusters feel by comparison. It's unfathomably night and day.
