Meet hatred with kindness, Fabrications with fortitude, Personal attacks with principle, And hate mail & threats with a shredder or delete & block button. Listen before you speak. Work to build empathy, and look for common ground with others if they'll let you.

This afternoon, hundreds of antivax protesters blockaded Flemington Rd & made it difficult & traumatic for sick kids, their families & the staff to get to RCH. I am disgusted beyond words at their ignorance & malice. You are beneath contempt.

The Premier looks knackered. I'm grateful for his dedication, but if I had a colleague in emergency who worked so many days in a row, I'd order them home for their health, safety & performance. Nobody should criticise him having a day off. #springst #auspol

A heavy heart as I leave the covid zone today. They're all unvaccinated. The treatment options are limited. I know some of them are going to die. I hate that they these cases are all preventable. I wish I could walk the hesitant & the complacent through here. #Covid19Vic

In one of my hospitals, it takes 5 days of cleaning to get a #COVID19Vic ward safe to resume elective surgery. That's how infectious this virus is. That's why shortcuts advocated by some experts in journalism, economics & politics need to be politely dismissed. #springst #auspol

Journalism should inform & empower the community, particularly in a crisis. This headline in today's @australian is intended to divide & mislead. It is unconscionable, & deserves condemnation. #COVID19nsw #COVID19Vic #auspol

Let's be careful with language. Millions of us live quite normally with underlying conditions. If it is used as a measure of risk, fine. If it is used to somehow mitigate responsibility for bad outcomes, that's unacceptable. #Covid19Aus #auspol

I recently treated a man whose colonoscopy was delayed by Melbourne's Second Wave. He presented with widespread, incurable cancer. Victims of the #COVID19Aus pandemic don't just present with difficulty breathing. That's why we must clamp down on outbreaks & get vaccinated ASAP.

Home after a rough, understaffed shift in #Emergency. More & more #COVID19, some needing ICU. The stress is showing in many colleagues, but I'm so proud of the way they just keep stepping up. Please, please lock yourselves down, because if this continues, we'll struggle. #auspol

At the worst of the 2020 #COVID19Vic 2nd Wave, 50 of our 450 ICU beds had Covid patients fighting for life. Enormous stress on staff & the system. #COVID19nsw already sees >30 in ICU. Younger, unvaccinated, more severe illness. The heroes are #healthcareworkers, not protesters.

As we see #COVID19Vic numbers slowly decline, I think it's time for Australia to acknowledge a debt of gratitude owed to Victorians. Enormous hardship has been endured to fight the 2nd wave & reduce the risk to other states. We're one country, not six colonies. #auspol #springst

If you want to work in healthcare, you need to be vaccinated against #COVID19Aus. If you refuse, after all the advice & specialist support needed, then you shouldn't be a #healthcareworker. We're there to provide care & make people & colleagues safer. #COVID19Vic

I don't care how good a tennis player he is. If he's refusing to get vaccinated, he shouldn't be allowed in. If this exemption is true, it sends an appalling message to millions seeking to reduce #COVID19Aus risk to themselves & others. #Vaccination shows respect, Novak.

Having treated more than one unvaccinated protester over recent months, I can tell you that their hubris evaporates when they realise they are having trouble breathing. #Covid19Vic #Covid19Aus
