- Relief for 353 survivors on #SeaWatch4 who were finally assigned a place of safety in #Palermo, where they will be transferred to a quarantine ship. 27 survivors rescued 27 days ago by tanker #Etienne are still waiting. Providing a safe port is an obligation under maritime law.🔴BREAKING! Finally relief for survivors on board today! They have just been given the news they have a place of safety in #Palermo, Sicily; on the 11th day after the first #SeaWatch4 rescue in the #Mediterranean. The 353 people will first be transferred to a ship for quarantine.
- More than 200 people were returned to #Libya, a country at war where 3 teenagers were shot & killed at disembarkation this week. 10 people must be feared dead at sea. These deaths are the result of a complete disregard for human life & maritime law in the #CentralMediterranean.🚨 More than 200 migrants were returned to Libyan shores in the past 24 hours. IOM staff who were onsite to provide assistance report that ten other migrants are missing at sea. We maintain that #Libya is not a safe port.

- Today, the #OceanViking rescued 236 people from 2 overcrowded rubber boats in distress in international waters, 32 NM off Zawiyah, Libya. Several survivors were weak, dehydrated & are now recovering. Women suffer mild fuel burns & have inhaled fumes. 114 minors are unaccompanied.
- 🔴BREAKING Big relief on board tonight as the #OceanViking was assigned a Place of Safety in Augusta, Sicily. We will arrive there tomorrow morning. We are humbled by the resilience of the people we rescued this week, and deeply touched by the stories they shared with us.

- Much needed news received by the #OceanViking from Italian maritime authorities this evening: the 572 survivors will disembark in Augusta, Sicily. It's an immense relief to know that their plight at sea is almost over and that the 6 rescues will finally be completed soon.
- 🔴 BREAKING: The #OceanViking has just rescued 74 people - including 6 minors - from a rubber boat in distress near an oilfield around 50 nautical miles off the Libyan coast. While exhausted from the dangerous journey, all seem to be stable.
00:00 - 🔴BREAKING The crew on #OceanViking rescued ~120 people from a dangerously overcrowded rubber boat in distress 36 NM off the Libyan coast. Among the survivors are four small children, the youngest is only one month old. The survivors are visibly shaken and exhausted.
- 🔴BREAKING @SOSMedIntl and @MSF_Sea teams have just rescued 48 people from a wooden boat in distress, 53 NM from the coast of #Libya. Women, very young children and a newborn baby are among the survivors now safely onboard the #OceanViking.
00:00 - 🔴 The situation on #OceanViking is now extremely urgent. Many of the survivors are in acute mental distress, expressing the intent to inflict harm on themselves. One man attempted suicide today. The safety of survivors & crew are under threat. We need a Place of Safety now.
- Today, #OceanViking rescued 106 children, women & men from an overcrowded rubber boat in distress in international waters, 34 NM off #Libya. One person fell unconscious, was evacuated to the ship and is recovering. Several survivors were in a state of strong emotional distress.
