“The gardener cannot actually “grow” tomatoes, squash, or beans. She can only foster an environment in which the plants do so.” Sounds like player development. We don’t “make” players better. We CREATE environments that allow them to flourish. #TeamOfTeams

Winning isn’t everything until: You get benched Get cut Lose your job Get released Get beat -Win each rep -Win each moment Because at some point, WINNING MATTERS. Make it important, before it’s important.

Hear it all the time: “One more” “End on a good one” BUT- There may be more benefit from having to work through the “failure” between rounds than “feeling good” after each. After all, isn’t that how the game works at times? We have to live with our last one. Practice it.

Instead of SAYING: “This player (team) isn’t buying in.” Try ASKING: “How can I adjust the environment to make it more engaging?” - Placing blame will sink you. - Ownership will catapult you.

If they don’t learn the way you coach, coach the way they learn. EVERY player is “coachable.”
