- Ted Leitner said he called his final game Tue night. San Diego State lost to sharp North Carolina, ending its season, Leitner's play-by-play career. 30 years of Aztecs hoops narration. Leitner, 78, said glaucoma influenced decision. Great run, Ted! tinyurl.com/22c8mn8c
- Pac-12's pain ought to be San Diego State's gain and not for nothing. #SDSU would provide SoCal presence, good men's hoops and a football program that's won seven of last nine games v. Pac-12 (including Arizona, Utah last year). Academically, a lot to offer.
- I’m told Anthony Lynn was in fact made aware of his dismissal by the Chargers before it went public. That contradicts a report that implied otherwise.
- Me: Padres have fewer holes than Yankees. Disagree? Fine. My bigger point: Soto goes to Yankees and has a monster year, but Padres are very comparable to Yankees with payroll that's $130M less. Preller did a great job with this roster.
- If the #Nationals are using the #Padres to up the ante you can be sure that's cool with Preller, who would like the #Dodgers or #Giants to pay the steepest possible price if they don't get him.
- A pitching coach #Padres have hired, Ruben Niebla, has an excellent reputation within MLB. Was with Cleveland, a franchise that’s had a lot of success at developing pitchers.
- Column: Ron Fowler, in contrast to Spanoses, built trust with local sports fans - The San Diego Union-Tribune #Padres
- Nick Hardwick. Not interested in gig w/LA Chargers. Feels fans pain. Wishes Spanoses had done certain things better. goo.gl/ZOrfO0
- Padres marketeers, who seldom miss a trick, should give away Joe Musgrove ear muffs when the Mets come to town next year. Can get chilly in parts of East County.
- All of San Diego just screamed. Goodness gracious. Lamont Butler cans an elbow J, sending San Diego State to the national championship game. Ball went in as clock struck 0.0.
