Stood today with @32BJSEIU airport workers fighting for fair pay, better training, and affordable healthcare. MassPort must approve next Thursday’s vote to support a trained, fairly compensated workforce. Grateful to all who continue pushing for dignity and respect for these

Thank you, Boston! I am so thrilled to be your next City Councilor At-Large. I am overjoyed to be the first Haitian-American person to represent this city. I believe in what this city can become, & I’m ready to get to work. 💪🏿 #bospoli #TeamRuthzee

Today the Boston City Council passed a resolution calling for a immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Here is my statement.
Today, the Boston City Council passed a resolution calling for a permanent and immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The ongoing suffering and loss of innocent lives must end. We call for urgent action to protect the welfare of civilians and children above all else.

The attacks by Hamas on Israel on October 7th were abhorrent. We must continue to condemn them. We can and should bring the perpetrators to justice and demand the release of Israeli hostages expeditiously.

We cannot let this cycle of violence continue. We cannot sit idly by and watch the horrors unfold in Gaza. It only ensures that resentment, hate, and mistrust are passed down from generation to generation. This is not a sustainable path forward.

Every life lost - Palestinian or Israeli - is a tragedy, and every child who grows up amidst conflict is robbed of their right to a prosperous future.

I am honored to have the support of Senator @ewarren. She set an incredible example of how to be a champion for working families and fearlessly advocate for structural change.

Started off the new year with my colleagues at our inauguration ceremony. I am deeply humbled to have earned the unanimous support of my @BOSCityCouncil colleagues to lead as Boston City Council President, an honor that is especially meaningful today as the Haitian community

    My Statement Re: Emerson College
The right to protest is sacred. Academic spaces have historically served as catalysts for transformative social movements, underscoring the importance of student-led protests on matters of human and civil rights. Many of the rights we hold dear were secured via protest.

It’s imperative to uphold this right. It’s equally essential to emphasize that on college campuses, all students, regardless of ideology or identity, have the right to feel safe, heard, and protected. Jewish students, Muslim students - ALL of our students have a right to feel safe.

I caution against heavy-handed responses to protest. My office is continuing to monitor the situation at Emerson College and other campuses. While there are legitimate public safety concerns, the presence of tents alone does not transform a peaceful protest into an unpeaceful one. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that students who choose to exercise their right to protest are met with dignity and respect. #

For the 1st time in history, the Massachusetts Attorney General is a Black woman - the 1st woman of color to hold statewide office. AG Campbell, excited to see you use your personal story & expertise to do the work of justice for the people. #blackwomenlead #bospoli #mapoli
The Councilor, wearing a purple turtleneck velvet dress, poses for a picture with Andrea Campbell, wearing a navy blue velvet dress with navy gloves. They are standing in front of a glass wall with buildings visible in the background.
Andrea takes the oath of office on stage as her partner holds the mic and Bible and her mother administers the oath against a green backdrop and with American flags visible on the stage.

Being an elected official & public servant opens the door for critique. That’s par for the course. But what is unacceptable is the online & in-person harassment lodged against the women of color on @BOSCityCouncil. It’s not what we signed up for & won’t be tolerated.
