Of the countless images I have captured in my life, none is more iconic than this one. I can't believe it has been 30 years since Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida. I'll never forget capturing this image of the zoos flamingos huddled in the ladies restroom for protection.

On 3/4/89, I married the love of my life. This week we celebrated our 33rd anniversary in NYC as we did 23 years ago for our 10th. Here are two images of us taken exactly 23 years apart at the same hotel. Though I’m balder and fatter, she only gets more beautiful!

I was so excited to capture this image of an F-18 fighter jet as it approaches the speed of sound and creates a flash of vapor that only lasts a split second!! Thankful to my Nikon for locking on and focusing while shooting 12 fps to make this possible! #nikonphotography

Pleasantly surprised when my brother from another mother stopped by to say hi! Shaq has been a great friend to me for over a decade and a wonderful supporter or the zoo. He is truly one of the “nice guys!” And it’s great to stand next to someone taller than me!

We lost this great lioness today. She was an incredible mother. This is one of my favorite images that I have ever taken when she went over to her adopted son after he was threatened by the adult male and she protected him while reassuring him. So special. RIP Queen Kashifa.

As I walked through the zoo for the last time this year, I asked Shango, our silverback gorilla for his thoughts on 2020. No words needed! I wish all of my family and friends a safe, healthy and hopefully happier New Year!

Today, I had to say goodbye to arguably the most iconic, magnificent animal that has ever lived at Zoo Miami. At 56, Dalip was the oldest bull elephant in the country. I've known and admired him my entire 40+ years at the zoo and with miss him profoundly. This really hurts.

35 yrs. ago today, almost to the minute, I had my first date with this amazing woman. I thank God for that crocodile that bit me more than 35 yrs ago and put me in the hospital after emergency surgery where this goddess was part of my therapy team. Now I get therapy for free! 😍

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with "Toshi," the black rhino for over 35 years. He was the most amazing rhino I have ever known. Though he lived to be the 2nd oldest black rhino in the world, his death has devastated me.

One of the greatest honors I have had in my career was opening today's Miami Herald and seeing this on the entire front page!! I could never say "thank you" enough to everyone who has been so supportive throughout my career! It's been a great and wild ride!

Being able to address thousands at the Stephen O’Connell Center as the recipient of the University of Florida’s Distinguished Alumnus Award has been one of the greatest honors of my life! #GoGators

So excited to officially announce the birth of "Hope," the first koala born at Zoo Miami in over 28 years! I felt very privileged to be there when the joey left the pouch for the first time to capture these special images!

What an emotional day! Beyond proud and happy to be part of the successful and inspiring release of this bald eagle that we have been documenting and caring for since it was rescued over 5 months ago after it fell out of its damaged nest. An incredible team effort!
