“Why do our children need cursive?!” 😭 I get asked this question quite often. So I’m going to share the importance of cursive handwriting 🌸 especially in Early Childhood.

I will probably catch smoke for this but growing up in a strict household and friends who also had strict parents, I frown upon strict parenting so much. We became adults who are still “babies”. My friends and I struggled to transition into adulthood.
I swear having strict parents has really saved some of us from a lot of things

    1. Cursive develops the Fine Motor Skills of a young child. This means; a child would have to fully focus on his/her pencil grip when forming cursive letters. This practice improves their ability to tie shoelaces, tie knots, squeeze a sponge etc.

This man walks in at 3 am and is angry at me for not being angry that he’s home late. I have no reason to be angry at a consenting adult who knows the time yet chooses to cross the boundary❤️

My daughter’s creche gifted us with a pitch black mug. I couldn’t understand why but I kept it anyway. Come, Monday. I made myself some tea. Guess what. A picture of my little baby revealed itself on the mug😍😍 so adorable man!😍

Ended my relationship❤️👍 He Didn't cheat. He invalidates me A LOT. No flowers. Can't tell me if he isn't coming over anymore. Gets drunk to a point of not coming home. Can't take my car to the carwash. But when it's time for me to open my wallet, he's flying👍. Ke shapo❤️

You’re not careless with money or bad at budgeting. The cost of living in South Africa is genuinely absurd.

Last year on this day. I drunk texted someone. A year later, we live in our own home with a 7 week old Button-nose who looks everything like me😂😍. It’s our anniversary 💃🏽

    2. Cursive Handwriting is SO IMPORTANT for children who may be dyslexic. Cursive letters and print letters are not the same (few exceptions). However, cursive is easier for a dyslexic child to read from. A more practical example:

The letter “b” and “d” can easily confuse a dyslexic child. But the cursive formation of b and d may appear entirely different , thus, causing less room for confusion.

You will find that a child who struggles to write using cursive/form cursive letters, might not be able to tie his/her shoelaces.

I've spent years watching abelungu knock off early or cut meetings short for the most "interesting" reasons Today, was my day. I told abelungu "Unfortunately I am concluding this meeting. My Personal Trainer is expecting me at 16:00 "😩

    4. My favorite!! - CONCENTRATION!!!! Cursive really improves the concentration of a child due to its fine detail! Take a child who is writing in print and place them with one writing in cursive. Watch who will pay the most attention to their writing.
