Every day, over the last 12 years, I put my heart and soul into the work of improving the lives of every Rhode Islander. I’m so proud of all we accomplished.
Thank you, for the honor and the privilege, Rhode Island.
My last letter as a Member of Congress was sent to @POTUS tonight, urging him to award the Medal of Honor posthumously to Rhode Islander First Sergeant Peter Andrew McKenna.
He is a true American hero who embodied the very best of our country and our shared American values.
This will be my last week serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has been the honor of my life to represent RI's First District in Congress. Thank you to everyone who placed their faith & trust in me over the last 12 years.
Some final thoughts⤵️
Today, I was honored to participate in the State of Rhode Island’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, where we honored our friends and neighbors who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Glad to join Lincoln's memorial parade in honor of those who have sacrificed so much for our country – those who gave their lives and the families they left behind.
Thank you to the Barrington United Veterans Council and @RI_Barrington for organizing today's memorial service and parade in tribute to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our freedom.
Congratulations to the @BrownUniversity Class of 2023!
As you close this chapter of your life, take a moment to reflect on this incredible accomplishment. Wishing you happiness and success in this next chapter!
Great time tonight with members of the Gaspee Days Committee! Honored to serve with @JimLangevin as this year’s Grand Marshals.
Everyone mark your calendars for the @GaspeeDay Parade on June 10th!
As we remember the 21 lives taken one year ago, I’m calling on my colleagues to take real action to #EndGunViolence.
We need to do all we can so that no other community has to endure the loss that Uvalde is suffering through.
#BanAssaultWeapons
One year ago, a gunman with an AR-15 style rifle shot and killed 19 fourth graders and two teachers, and wounded 17 others at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. It was the third-deadliest school shooting in modern American history.
Tonight, I addressed the House of Representatives for the final time as a Member of Congress.
As a lifelong Rhode Islander, it is only fitting that my final message is one of HOPE -- hope for our democracy and our Congress.
