I can’t express enough how deeply grateful I am to have represented Michigan’s 9th district in Congress the last four years. Though my term has concluded, please keep in touch with me on here or @Andy_Levin. Onward!

When I became a member of the 116th Congress, I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Today, I announce that I have concluded that the House has a duty to open an impeachment inquiry into the conduct of President Donald J. Trump.

I am chilled to the bone by the idea that any Jewish person of conscience could applaud Trump saying “Our country’s full, you can’t come in,” much less cheering raucously. Not long ago, it was we who were turned away from these shores by such prejudiced sentiments. For shame.

It feels sickening to sit here — as a two-time cancer survivor — and listen to a man who has repeatedly proposed cutting the National Institutes of Health budget use the story of a child cancer survivor for applause. What has he done to speed cancer research? Nothing!

We have majorities in both chambers of Congress. I can’t look a grieving community and fearful families in the eye and tell them nothing can be done. Abolish the filibuster. Pass gun violence prevention laws — now!

Yesterday, I traveled to the southern West Bank, including the Palestinian village of Susya, which the Israeli government has destroyed twice and currently denies access to water.

Mr. Trump has been violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution each and every day since he took office. His intertwining of his business dealings with governance and his profiting off his office are beyond improper.

Expanding the court isn’t radical. Congress has changed the size of SCOTUS seven times before. What’s radical is letting a far-right majority strike down constitutional human rights after nearly 50 years.

I will work to build a consensus in the House Democratic Caucus to begin this process, and I will reach across the aisle to engage Republican colleagues about the urgent need to protect our democracy.

#Coronavirus requires a WWII-scale effort to produce supplies, like protective equipment for health care workers, on a massive scale. 56 colleagues and I called on the President to invoke the Defense Production Act to produce what we need to protect Americans now. We can't wait.

The rail companies are presenting America with a false choice: accept a work stoppage or accept a contract rejected by thousands of workers. How about this: Congress can prevent a work stoppage by listening to the workers & adding a modest amount of paid sick leave to the deal.🧵

I have concluded that the only way to get to the bottom of Mr. Trump’s activities and inform the public about what we learn is to centralize and expedite the process through one select committee with the focus, power and urgency that come with an impeachment inquiry.

His refusal to share information about his taxes prevents the public from knowing the nature and extent of his conflicts of interest.

As the Mueller Report makes clear, on 10 or more occasions the President did obstruct justice or sought to obstruct justice, including by firing or attempting to fire people who were investigating him.
