Thanks El Cerrito voters for electing me to serve on the El Cerrito City Council! I am so thankful to all of you. To everyone who donated, volunteered, spread the word about my campaign to your friends and neighbors: this victory is yours too. 🧵

BIG NEWS - BART staff have figured out how to increase evening/weekend frequencies to 20 min from 30 min, without hiring more staff or spending more money. No more 30 minute waits!!!🎉🎉🎉 🧵 with details:

🎉🚝🚽 Today the restrooms at Downtown Berkeley and Embarcadero BART opened for the first time in 20+ years! They’re bright and clean, and staffed by attendants at all hours. Everyone needs bathrooms and I’m thrilled we’re making BART more accessible by reopening restrooms.

If you thought the last two BART holiday sweaters were amazing, check out a preview of the 2023 sweater. It features blinking lights that move sequentially along a BART system map and a train horn that honks at the push of a button.🚄❄️

    Love this new BART ad❤️🚝

These fantastic ads are not just on BART, they’re on highways too.

We do have digital billboard ads running in fact 😃 -- 80 just past aquatic park and 101 near sfo! They appear in rotation with other non-BART ads — lmk if you spot one!

Thanks for letting me know about this. I just contacted BART's independent police auditor about this.

Woo hoo! Yesterday BART had its highest ridership day since the start of the pandemic! 🎉🚄 There were 192,081 rides on BART yesterday, topping the previous Warriors championship parade record of 190,519 rides. Great to see folks returning to BART!

BART Board just approved my proposal to institute 30 min grace period for $6.40 excursion fare! We'll soon stop penalizing riders who enter a station and don't ride BART, especially when it's due to BART delays. Thanks @JaniceForBART & staff for working with me all year on this!

Seattle built a ton of new housing, their population increased, and the city is thriving. San Francisco built little new housing, population declined, and the city is struggling. It's not rocket science - Bay Area needs to build more housing to address so many of our problems.
SF and Seattle have powerful tech economies that both went remote, water and hills, homelessness and fentanyl crises. But Seattle grew an astounding 2.4% in population in latest census year, the most of ANY big U.S. city. I wanted to find out why: sfchronicle.com/sf/article/san…

BART's independent police auditor had not heard about this until I shared your Twitter thread. He will look into it.

I’m introducing policy changes to BART’s bike rules, including ending the ban on bikes on BART escalators. It’s time to end this restriction to make it easier for riders to use bikes and BART together. BART Board will vote Sept 28.

HUGE NEWS 🚨🚨🚨 California has finally prioritized transit workers for vaccinations!!! Thanks so much to everyone who advocated for this for the past two months. Transit workers are essential workers, and I'm so happy they are now all eligible for vaccinations 😀🚄🚍🚇🚋

Incredible how closely BART ridership has tracked with San Francisco office occupancy throughout the pandemic. SF office occupancy isn't going to change much soon. To rebuild ridership, we must continue to improve off-peak service to get folks to use BART for non-work trips.
