My husband has three rules of engagement when we go to church. 1. An alone person in our gathering is an emergency 2. Friends can wait 3. Introduce a newcomer to someone else Let’s all be missionaries at church today!

Yesterday, a couple from our church adopted the 8yr who has been living with them as their son for over a year. So much of our church showed up to support them that the judge said we'd broken the record for an adoption hearing. This is what church family looks like in action!

Tonight, the President of the United States was asked directly to condemn white supremacists. He did not do so. No Christian in America should be ok with that.

Last night, I met a law student from New York who said she'd read Confronting Christianity as a skeptic. It led to her reading Mere Christianity, which led to her reading the Bible, which led to her becoming a Christian. There are so many signs of grace up here in New England!

In many churches, the pastor in the pulpit is the most theologically educated member and the granny/older auntie in the pew is the most spiritually formed. Let's be sure we're learning from both.

There is so much evidence to show that this is in fact a terrible message. Marriage is not about locking into a state of being perpetually "in love" with one's spouse. Marriage is about locking into a commitment to love someone precisely when you're not feeling all the feels.

I don't know the rest of her story. But it was yet another reminder to me that people who are exploring Christianity often show up at church & can easily get missed if those of us who consider church to be our home aren't watching out for them. So please, be awkward & say hi!

What if the most countercultural thing that Christians can do in pride month is be humble?

What record of sin does God keep against those who have trusted in Christ?

If any church, denomination, or organization cannot survive the disclosure of the truth, it should disband. If any Christian leader's reputation cannot survive the disclosure of the truth, they should step down. Jesus Christ will build his church. He doesn't depend on coverups.

Here’s the thing with the Bible: it’s meant to be read, not brandished.

I'm in the Boston area (3rd most secular in USA) & people with no Christian background keep showing up at our church. One guy came to our Bible study last night. He's tried New Age spirituality. He's tried atheism. Neither worked. Christians, let's be ready to receive these folks

Last night, I watched Adele being interviewed by Oprah & saying she'd divorced her husband not because she didn't love him anymore, but because she wasn't "in love" with him anymore. Oprah said what a great message it was to women out there who also aren't 100% happily married.
