Surreal to finally have this: one of my all time favourite films in 4K on its 100th anniversary, with a 52 minute video essay by me included in the extras. Out soon! A Brave Engineer charts the entirety of Buster Keaton's career through his use of trains, I'm very proud of it.

KNIVES OUT.... spoilers? Marta looking at Thrombey's portrait at the beginning of the film, when the investigation into his death is taking place, a stern look on his face. Marta looking at the portrait at the end of the film, when she takes over the house, his face now warm.

I'm still unreasonably disappointed that Cassie Lang was recast for ANT-MAN 3. The actress in ENDGAME did so much with such a tiny amount of screentime. I love this scene so much.

A visual comparison I made last year of Luke in RETURN OF THE JEDI and THE LAST JEDI, coming to the same realisation that he was letting himself slip towards the Dark Side of the Force... it's like poetry, it rhy--yeah, you get it. #TheLastJedi #TLJGang #LukeSkywalker

Ways in which THE RISE OF SKYWALKER doesn't retcon or ignore THE LAST JEDI, and builds upon it, in big and small ways, a thread.

James Cameron has absolutely lost his fucking mind, allowing this to be done to his films. The TRUE LIES 4K "remaster" is out and yeah, Peter Jackson's Park Row AI treatment has been SLATHERED all over it. I'll say it again, this digital painting OVER FILM is fucking disgusting.

Hey @Neil_Druckmann @Grosstastic @TheVulcanSalute @LauraBaileyVO I thought you you may (or may not) like to see this reaction (the most viscerally involved I've felt in any art, I think..) Thanks for one of most memorable and emotionally challenging experiences I've ever had 👏

For me, Bob Odenkirk's performance in the final half of #BetterCallSaul's final season, especially the stuff he did after he almost died while filming & came back to work to eventually finish what he started, is one of the all time great performances in any media. #Emmys or not.

This exchange in #AvatarTheWayOfWater was so fucking good. Stephen Lang was incredible. "I'll be nice.... once. Then I won't." "Well if you can't get out of it... get INTO IT!"

#12 concl. Which in turn, means that the tragedy of the Skywalker family begins with Anakin not being able to save the woman he loved, Padme, from dying, and ends with Ben managing to save and resurrect the woman he loved, Rey. It's. Like. Poetry.

The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars movie.

It's worse than DNR.... it's SO much worse than DNR. It's not just removing shit at this point, it's removing and then adding fake shit based on a computer's algorithmic guess. They look like their faces are made out of fucking putty... 😑🫠

#8 "A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect." This is not dunking on Luke's portryal in TLJ, or digging at the saber toss. It's Luke poking fun at his own failings. He says in TLJ himself "I was unwise." TROS Luke has now reached peace and purpose, he -will- feel different.

TROS SPOILERS A better ending could've been: Rey and BB-8 look off to twin suns, the music swells, then fades. Rey's sunset tinged face in close-up. She closes her eyes. Rey: Be with me... Camera pushes in. She breathes. Ben: I'm with you. Rey opens her eyes and smiles.
