Yo! I’m Laura, a light novel and danmei editor who also does English support, novel and game writing, and fiber arts. Nice to meet ya!
OP seeing this as a “haha dude forgot to tell us baby is born” while decent people are like “wtf baby isn’t even a day old but he’s gonna be on the Play Station? Who is taking care of mom and baby?” tells you so much about why women are increasingly uninterested in having babies.
Growing up we were not allowed to even touch the washing machine. One day, when I was in HS, mom decided to just stop washing our sheets and we had to—only she never told us. She then got mad we weren’t washing our sheets, which clued us into us needing to. So I asked (cont)
Yeah as a Millennial I remember when I became an adult and asked my dad to help me with my car. He asked me why didn't I know how to work on cars? I asked him who was supposed to teach me? We never discussed it again.
One of the reasons I think this guy is pretty cool is that WAY too many men try to shame women and put them down to cope with their own issues. This guy? He doesn’t tell any other woman to be like Miku, he just married her and lives happily with her. That’s cool.
If you fall in love with a fictional character from a manga, anime, game, etc., people around you may say, ``You're crazy.'' But I respect your love. There are people besides me who understand. You don't have to be shy. You should be proud of your love for a fictional character.
her how do I use the washing machine? She got pissed and said I knew how. Her attitude was that I was just being difficult and obtuse. But how could I know how if I’ve never done it? If even literally touching the machine was off-limits?? (Cont)
Moral of the story is that, as a parent, you have a responsibility to teach kids. They don’t just know things. And you can’t get mad at them for not knowing things they have no way of knowing.
Related is a funny story of when I registered for college the first time. I needed my SSN and asked my dad for it. He was pissed I didn’t have it memorized. I was only 14, I’d never even heard of an SSN before then. How was I to have it memorized???
Fortunately, I had the internet and found some info and figured it out.
Side note, this was after we moved. When we moved, we left my (minor) brother behind. I didn’t even know until we’d already moved and I asked where my brother was and was told he didn’t come with. (Cont)
Anyway, so he suddenly had to live with friends and he also didn’t know the first thing about laundry but had a vague idea that bleach was involved. Ended up bleaching all his clothes first time he tried to do laundry. (Cont)
Japan is not your isekai and if you refuse to look at Japan honestly and critically, you don’t love Japan, you love a fantasy of Japan. Be realistic or you will only ever be disappointed.
