    Princess Elizabeth becoming the first female member of the Royal Family to join the Armed Services as a full-time active member. During her time in the Auxiliary Territorial Services (ATS), the Princess learnt to drive and to maintain vehicles. This photograph was taken in 1945.

    #OnThisDay 66 years ago, in 1953, The Queen's #coronation took place. St Edward's Crown was made for Charles II in 1661. The original was thought to date back to the 11th-century royal saint, Edward the Confessor. bit.ly/2EFJbFV
