We are seeing people in the game of rugby walk away because of exclusion. People who know what they are talking about
The RFU allowed itself to be manipulated by exclusionary groups outside of the game.
We are devastated to see the return of Israel Folau. There should be no place in our game for people who have unapologetically said and done the things Folau has done.
@WorldRugby has work to do when it comes to protecting LGBTQ people in the game π³οΈβππ
I (Jack, a cis gay man) want to send love, support and solidarity to all trans people in rugby. Please know there a more people out there who support you than do not.
The RFU has merely confirmed that is out-of-date & needs reforming.
This is not the end of this fight. β€οΈππ³οΈββ§οΈ
The RFU is about to take a decision which is not based on science, fairness or safety. But because they have been swayed by bigotry. Banning trans athletes is shameful and those who vote for it need to reflect on their role in making rugby no longer a sport for all
I (Emily, co-chair and proud trans woman) will record a video this week for the members of the @RFU council to watch b4 voting. As I know that trans voices will have been absent in this policy βdebateβ. It will open me to abuse but I cannot watch our sport descend into bigotry
Grotesque racism at the outset
Grotesque treatment of the victim
Rugby has traded on the much vaunted, but often absent 'values' for too long. Bigotry is protected throughout our game, and it is sickening.
