We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of D-Day veteran Don Sheppard. After serving in North Africa and Sicily in WW2, Don landed on Juno Beach on 6 June 1944 and spent three months as a despatch rider and driver in Normandy.

We’re saddened to share that Donald Rose, the UK’s oldest WWII veteran, has passed away at 110. A sniper with the Queen’s Royal Regiment, he served in North Africa, survived D-Day, and helped liberate Bergen-Belsen. His legacy and sacrifice will not be forgotten ❤️
Donald Rose, wearing a military beret and a dark blazer adorned with numerous medals and pins, sits with his hands folded. His jacket displays service ribbons and honours, including the Legion d’Honneur. He has a gentle smile and is pictured outdoors at the National Memorial Arboretum against a soft, blurred background of trees and blue skies.

It is with deepest sorrow that the Royal British Legion marks the death of our Sovereign and Patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen has served as Patron of the Royal British Legion since 6 February 1952. 1/3

A field of red poppies. There are a mixture of poppies in bloom, with some yet to flower. There are two poppies rising highest above the rest of the field that are at the centre of the picture. Above the flowers are the words: “We will remember them”.

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Jones, a WWII veteran, who died peacefully aged 103. Tom served in the Far East in 1942, in extremely tough conditions, before returning home to work as a bus and tanker driver. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
