- Joel Porter scored 65 times in 209 games for Pools. Born on Christmas Day. Happy Birthday to a Pools hero. Merry Christmas Poolies 🎅🏻
- Nicky Featherstone, often under appreciated, never hid from wanting the ball, treated poorly by the club of late and allowed to leave. He deserves better. Picked by manager after manager after manager. A true professional and there’s not enough of them around.
- Gary Liddle made his debut for Pools in 2006. Yesterday he was absolutely immense. An all time great with 336 appearances for the club.
- Brian Clough. Hartlepools United manager. Today would be his 86th birthday. “If you want to see some good stuff from Saturday onwards, get yourself down to a little place called Hartlepools. It won't be a little place for very long."
- John MacPhail. The former centre half and manager is in a coma in hospital after a fall. One of Pools finest signings when he arrived from Sunderland in September 1990. Sending love and very good wishes his way 💙
- The late, great Cyril Knowles. Pools manager appointed in Dec 1989 with the club bottom of Division 4. Saved Pools from relegation and turned them into promotion winners a year later. Legend.
