- AO3 is literally a dream fanfic site. It offers comprehensive tagging, zero censorship of adult content, no ads, no corporate overlords to arbitrarily pull the plug, and A TEAM OF LAWYERS TO PROTECT AUTHORS. If you complain about it having fundraisers, you’re being ridiculous.
- People need to realize that “this makes me uncomfortable” is a really selfish reason for censorship. Sure, it might make you uncomfortable, but the art serves a valid purpose for the artist. That’s why they made it. Your personal discomfort isn’t universal.
- Reminder that “queer is a slur” is a radfem dog whistle. We’re here, we’re queer, and we don’t fit into their shitty transphobic kinkphobic biphobic panphobic aphobic nbphobic worldview.
- Replying to @PlagueSquidAnd yes, I'm fully aware of all the 'nasty' fics they allow. I work in a library. We've got Flowers in the Attic and 50 Shades of Grey on the shelves. People write sexy problematic books all the time, why should fanfic be any different?
- "Kids might see X ship and think it's a healthy relationship" isn't solved by getting rid of X ship. It's solved by teaching kids what a healthy relationship looks like. If you want to do some meaningful online activism to help protect kids, do that.
- Replying to @HezbolsonaroThey really found the one photo of him where he’s in the middle of talking or something and looks slightly sinister when he’s actually quite a nice looking guy. Very normal and not racist of them.
- According to the new extras, the one thing Xiang Fei couldn’t change with his webnovel was Luo Binghe, which means that all Binghes are just Like That naturally.
- Replying to @PlagueSquidI don’t mean to be like “suck it up and stop complaining”. Block the shit out of artists who make you uncomfortable. But harassing them and abusing the report feature to get them kicked off social media over your discomfort makes you look selfish, entitled, and downright shitty.
- What Patreon is doing isn’t new, it’s an expansion of their previous policies about off-site content and ‘objectionable’ nsfw. But nobody listened when it was just the really out there kinks. That’s how this censorship works. They ban the super niche stuff first.
- Underrated funny part of SVSSS is how hung up on admin the sect is. They have An Ding focused entirely on logistics and Qiong Ding is just bureaucracy. And like yeah, that’s how things would have to work realistically, but it’s a stallion novel. Airplane, why?!
- MXTX has loosed Shen Jiu on the real world and I don’t know if she’s fully realized what she’s done. He is free.
- Replying to @PlagueSquidI don’t care if you’re a minor. I don’t care if your friends feel uncomfortable too. It doesn’t make your discomfort any more objective. Discomfort is inherently a subjective judgement and your discomfort doesn’t trump an artist’s need to create something.
