Episode 7 of Season 2 of Arcane is my favorite episode of the entire show, and the one that I think is the best. It deals with many of the main themes and discourses of the show in a way that is just so beautiful and informative. So I wanna talk about it:

The worst part is that several of them could’ve been Johto pokemon. Chuck could’ve had Heracross. Bugsy could’ve had Ledian and Ariados. Whitney could’ve had Teddiursa. Jasmine and Skarmory. Morty and Misdreavus. So many options.

I took it as more, “The Korra show ended the avatar cycle”, which was one of the most fun and culturally relevant parts of Avatar. Ancestry and the cycles of the past are important to the cultures that Avatar takes inspiration from. And Korra just doesn’t in the same way.

Many Greek Myths are extremely problematic and gross. The point of studying them isn’t to learn how to be problematic and gross, it’s to understand how these societies looked at deity and its relationship to humanity. If you’re uncomfortable, good! Examine why they weren’t.

“Amazing character development,” she went from a goon for Silco to one more cog in the Zaun resistance movement. She was never a main character. Her character was routinely focused on assisting Jinx in S2, and her development absolutely didn’t turn her into a main cast member

If you reduce all of Season 1 to just that singular narrative thread, when it has a lot more going on in it, then of course none of Season 2 is going to make sense to you.

I recommend joining more diverse queer spaces. “Butch” has been used extensively within drag scenes by gay/bisexual men, trans women, straight/bisexual/gay women, and trans men to describe other gay/bisexual men, trans women, straight/bisexual/gay women, and trans men.

Yep…and clefairy. Why clefairy? There’s no shortage of Johto normal types. Why not use those? No one else uses Teddiursa/Ursaring, and Teddiursa fits her vibes. It’s just an example for how poorly made the main campaign is for the Johto games.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it possible for men in general to feel the need to be straight? We see it a lot in terms of the jokes told about male friendships. “Kiss the homies goodnight” is funny because of it not conforming with the heterosexuality enforced by society.
