- You know of all the Rowling shenanigans, we don’t talk enough about how movie Lavender Brown was Black until they recast the part with a white girl so a main character could date her.
- Here's the thing: a lot of LGBTQ people my age *did* grow up with our schools never mentioning queerness and transness. If your parents were straight, you simply had no way to even *know* there were others like you out there. /1
- JK Rowling has explicitly said she believes the money she makes is evidence that people generally agree with her views on trans people or at least those beliefs aren’t a dealbreaker to them. *You* might not think buying Wizarding stuff is supporting her views, but she sure does.
- An irony of the “groomer” bullshit is I understood I was trans at 11 but no one in my life talked about transness so to learn about myself I had to use the internet and found stuff that was VERY not age appropriate. Imagine if I could have learned about it from Sesame Street. /1
- Rise of Skywalker does have one perfect moment, it’s that right after they show the first gay kiss in Star Wars (for 2 seconds) they immediately cut to this frowning slug monster for twice as long. 16/10, no notes
