    This is Harry Hudec, a #508th HQ PIR #82nd #Airborne Div. #paratrooper who was 6ft8inch tall and a Regimental Boxing Champ in #WW2 He jumped into Normandy on #Dday , jumped into the Arnhem area during OMG and survived the Battle of the Bulge. He passed away in 2007. #colorized

    A #Dutch boy brought his goat cart, out into the streets, (#Stratumseind, #Geldropseweg) to the amusement of their #British liberators. Later this day, the street and surrounding area were bombed by the #Luftwaffe, killing 227 people. #Eindhoven, #Netherlands, 19 September, 1944.

    #Canadians fight the streets of #Groningen, #Holland, mid April, 1945. It took 4 day's of heavy #streetfighting to #liberate the city. In spite of severe fighting, great crowds of civilians thronged the streets, more excited than frightened of nearby rifle an #machinegun fire.

    #RoyalDutchNavy Hr. Ms. #Zwaardvisch. On the morning of 6 October 1944 Zwaardvisch sighted #German #submarine #U168 north of #Java. She fired 6 #torpedoes from 900 yards. 3 hit the target but only 1 exploded. Still U-168 sank in just 2 minutes. 27 German sailors were rescued #WW2
