    Recent tweets have shared news of academic colleagues whose death by suicide occurred amid the insurmountable pressure they experienced in higher education. Our mental health is important. We need to collectively challenge harmful work environments and name abuse when we see it

    Completing a PhD shouldn't be privileged, we should live in a world where we are nurtured to learn rather than conditioned for capitalism If you're struggling this #phdweekend let go of any guilt that you should be working at your thesis. Instead find space to nurture it & you ❤

    We often hear that writing is hard because we look down at our feet for most of it as the summit isn't in sight. Remember you're cultivating new knowledge & adding to our understanding of the world. That's monumental.... So go easy on yourself - even celebrate #phdweekend

    DM: I’m a 3rd yr PhD. I started dating my girlfriend about five months ago. I met her parents recently and they think I should be working and making money. They think I don’t have the drive to achieve and my PhD is useless. I’m honestly so bothered by this. What should I do?

    We're our own worst critics. So take note: 1. Your PhD is amazing 2. You're probably closer to submission than you realise 3. There's a reason why we say get it written not perfect 4. So this #phdweekend be clear on what you want to achieve but make time to reward yourself
