Neuroscientist interested in cognitive-emotional brain
Author of The Entangled Brain (MIT Press); The Cogitive-Emotional Brain

*The Entangled Brain* is out now! I wrote it with the general reader in mind, so if you want to learn about the brain from a fresh perspective give it a try.
I'll write some threads with some of the main themes soon ๐ง
My book **The Entangled Brain** by MIT Press is out and provides an introduction to the brain to non-specialists while embracing the complexity of how brains help bring about behaviors. I'll be posting ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ in the coming 1-2 weeks

Laurent Perrinet asked about the timing but processing it not sequential in the brain. His figure is below:

One of my favorite diagrams.
(actually undercount by very large margin: 500-1000 connections estimated)
Want to learn about the brain from a fresh, novel perspective? I wrote a book to introduce the brain to everyone! Does not assume prior knowledge.

The book should be of interest if you are also a philosopher with interest in biology.

๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ book of the week!
Larry Swanson's book, a gem. Short and accessible, should be titled: "What is a brain?" or something like that as it describes the foundations of how nervous systems are organized.
(I read the first edition, need to now read the second)
EMOTION AND COGNITION ARE NOT SEPARATE ALTHOUGH THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2000+ YEARS. THEY ARE NOT DISTINCT DOMAINS OF THE MIND-BRAIN, THEY INTERACT, IN FACT THEY ARE INTEGRATED. ACTUALLY SOME PEOPLE THINK THERE ARE NO MEANINGFUL BOUNDARIES TO BE DRAWN HERE...
