*The Entangled Brain* is out now! I wrote it with the general reader in mind, so if you want to learn about the brain from a fresh perspective give it a try. I'll write some threads with some of the main themes soon ๐Ÿง

My book **The Entangled Brain** by MIT Press is out and provides an introduction to the brain to non-specialists while embracing the complexity of how brains help bring about behaviors. How should we understand the brain? What are good categories to study it, things like "perception", "cognition", "emotion"? Paul Cisek nails it!

๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ผ๐—บ๐˜† book of the week! Larry Swanson's book, a gem. Short and accessible, should be titled: "What is a brain?" or something like that as it describes the foundations of how nervous systems are organized. (I read the first edition, need to now read the second)

EMOTION AND COGNITION ARE NOT SEPARATE ALTHOUGH THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2000+ YEARS. THEY ARE NOT DISTINCT DOMAINS OF THE MIND-BRAIN, THEY INTERACT, IN FACT THEY ARE INTEGRATED. ACTUALLY SOME PEOPLE THINK THERE ARE NO MEANINGFUL BOUNDARIES TO BE DRAWN HERE...
