- Wednesday, April 27. If I make it through today, that will be 41 yrs sober. Thanks to all who helped for those 30 days at St. Mary’s in 1981 — and, of course, to Diet Coke.
- Sid has died. The fact he was 100 & we’re shocked tells you all that’s needed about his relentless drive. So shocked that I still was making subtle jokes about Sid on Twitter this morning.
- April 27. I knew this date sounded familiar & just remembered: 39 yrs sober, assuming I make it to midnight. Talk about a major upset.
- I declared Buffalo game the greatest regular season win in Vikings’ 62-yr history. That lasted a month.
- When clock flips to midnight, I will be 74. I was feeling loggy 8, 9 yrs ago & talking retirement. Then, three great things came into my life: two grandkids & Twitter. And I love being what I’ve been since Jan. 1966 for $76.08 a week in Duluth: A newspaperman.
- Bulldogs win this they will be such heroes Georgia might even let ‘em vote.
- Super Bowl Parade will start at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in downtown Minneapolis & wind up at State Capitol. Bud Grant will greet Vikings there in short sleeves. BULLETIN: Gov. Walz just announced public schools will close at 11:30 a.m.
- I paid off a house mortgage today for the first time in my life at tender age of 73. That calls for a celebration drink:
- April 27, 2024. Forty-three yrs exactly without an alcoholic beverage. That doesn’t mean if I’m in store buying wine or liqueurs for guests that I avoid taking a wistful glance at that distinctive green bottle containing old pal Tanqueray gin.
- Thirty-seven years w/o a drink today -- but I'm going to see the Twins tonight, so who knows?
