Remembering the Poets, Writers, & Artists killed by Israel in Gaza: Today we want to highlight just six of at least 13 poets and creatives in Gaza who have been killed by Israel since October. Say their names, know their faces, and honor their lives cut too short by the Zionist

We are devastated beyond words at the horrific and vengeful assassination of our dear friend Refaat Al Areer along with his family in Gaza today. Refaat was a warrior, a kind and generous man, a caring professor, a father, son, brother. He is one of tens of thousands to fall

Today we want to highlight the amazing work of Lama Abu Jamous, Gaza’s youngest reporter. At nine years old, Lama has done better reporting on Gaza than the biggest Western news outlets have. Her mission is to amplify the voices of Palestinian children like herself and to report

On this day, Ghassan Kanafani was born. Kanafani was a frontrunner of Palestinian resistance literature, which helped shape a rich genre of Palestinian prose and poetry and preserve Palestinian identity and culture at a very critical time. 🧵

Given the escalating racist attacks on the Palestine Writes Literature Festival, we feel it's time to release this letter, which we sent to the University on September 2, 2023, in response to the first hateful letter that came to our attention. Read it: palestinewrites.org/2023/09/15/let…
    02 September 2023

Dear President Magill et al.,
It has come to our attention that individuals and organizations have been calling and writing to complain about the Palestine Writes Literature Festival to administrators at the University of Pennsylvania, including deans, the Provost, the President, and some of the festival's funders. One of those letters, a joint endeavor between the Jewish Federation and the ADL, was forwarded to us, along with an official response from the University via Dean Steven Fluharty.

The letters are included in this document here and here.

With no prior warning, YouTube deactivated our account which featured videos from the 1st Palestine Writes Literature Festival. We were able to appeal and get the account back, but we condemn this act of censorship against Palestinian voices. palestinewrites.org/news1/press-re…
