A man (67) has been charged after a stream near Castlebay on the Isle of Barra was contaminated with human waste from a campervan. We received a report of the van’s toilet cassette being emptied around 10.30am on Sat 29 April.
A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

We can confirm that Joanne MacLean, who had been reported missing from Barvas, Lewis, has been traced.

Western Isles- Roads- We would like to say a huge thank you to the Coastguard and the CNES who have been working with us over the last couple of days to ensure that roads across Stornoway and Uist are safe and passable during the adverse weather conditions.
Officers on the Isle of Barra have arrested and charged a man with theft by finding in connection with a camera taken near to Barra Airport.
The camera was removed on Wednesday, 6 September, 2023.
The 54-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
