The Anthropocene has reduced a majestic animal to scavenging through human rubbish as its natural environment is destroyed.

Agriculture cannot survive at 50C+ soil temperatures for very long. Civilization cannot survive long without modern agriculture- connect the dots. On current trajectory this doesn’t end well. #heatwave

Spain's farms are dying. Their pastures are disappearing. Their livestock is becoming too expensive to even feed. Their ministers resort to calling for the EU crisis mechanism to be triggered. The #Climate crisis is now an EU farming and food supply crisis.

Human survivability at its absolute limit in #Asia currently: #Thailand, #Myanmar, #Cambodia, #Vietnam, and the #Philippines. All hit temperatures above 40°C, with some places experiencing an incredible life-threatening heat index of up to 52°C.

Looks like all my Italian trolls were right after all - there are no extreme weather events happening in #Italy - This is "just summer". This "happens every year". Tourists "just aren't used to this". "look, here's a weather map showing these hail storms didn't happen".....

The ground temperature in some areas of Spain has hit more than 60C! (140F) Sixty C! This is no longer a "Holiday" destination - #Spain is now a torturous sweatshop. You can't sustain crops in this heat for long - nor a society.

Ground temperature is not a good indicator for crops growth since it drops rapidly the more centimeters you dig down. Almost every crop produced outside in summer is rainfed (Olive, vineyard, barley & wheat) wich has been the same since the Roman empire For more info (Spanish) atlasnacional.ign.es/wane/Clima

Wow - The Great Lakes typically have an ice coverage of 55% during the winter months, causing at least half of their surfaces to freeze. As of yesterday, they had a combined ice cover of just 0.2%. Lake Superior 0.5%, Lake Michigan 0%, Lake Huron 0%, Lake Erie 0%, Lake Ontario 0%

43C in Spain in Mid May. These temperatures are not normal. How long before crops become seriously impacted by thermal intolerance and drought.

This summer may push India closer to the limits of human survival. Rising temperatures are forecast in the coming weeks after India experienced its hottest February on record. The region is at serious risk of wet-bulb if global temperatures continue to rise.

There is a monster leak of Arctic air heading towards the whole of North America. Many places will experience -20C. These leaks are becoming more frequent as the jet stream weakens. This is a new climate. The stability of the Holocene is over.

Agriculture cannot survive at 48C + air temperatures and ongoing severe droughts for very long. The bread baskets of #India have been hitting these temps for nearly 40 days straight. There is no #civilization without #Agriculture. Billions of people at risk #Delhi #heatwave

Due to the expected heatwave that will last through next week, the Italian health ministry has issued a red alert for 16 cities, including Rome, Bologna, and Florence. According to Italian media, Sardinia will experience a temperature of 48°C (118.4°F). This is not "normal".

“Expect chaos” - we really are in uncharted warm waters - Dr Jennifer Francis “We have not had a strong El Niño, in conjunction with ocean heatwave in the North Pacific, in conjunction with an Atlantic ocean where the temperatures are almost off the charts.”

#Mexico City could run out of water within weeks. "Day Zero" is counting down to June 26th. The whole country is in #drought conditions, and huge parts are in Extreme drought. A society can't run without water, and that could become a reality very soon in some regions.
