I made an HTML/DOM viewer you can paste into your console to view or debug any website in 3D. Choose from random/gradient/clear colors or whether layers have sides. You can save it as a bookmarklet so it's 1 click away. It's just a tiny IIFE JS function. gist.github.com/OrionReed/4c37…

What if a graph view and text editor were just two ends of a continuous spectrum? You get consistent semantics, intermediate views, and some other benefits by blending structurally-compatible representations. Here's a 'semantic zoom' in @tldraw

DOM, JS, and CSS wizards: I made a DOM visualiser which you can run from the JS console, it almost works. If anyone can figure out how to handle z-ordering in 3D so that it looks like a solid stack of DOM slices I WILL 100% UNIRONICALLY BUY YOU A COFFEE! gist.github.com/OrionReed/4c37…

Announcing the Open Canvas Working Group (OCWG). Building atop @ObsMd's JSON Canvas, we will work to establish a robust file format to enable interoperability between infinite canvas tools. Participants: @tldraw, @excalidraw, @statelyai, @KinopioClub, @dxos_org, and others 1/n

Here's a WIP browser extension which lets you pull apart any website, create views and transformations with LLMs, add new UI, pull in context from knowledgebases and APIs, and mix pieces of multiple websites together.

2D canvases have a whole dimension spare, so why not make it semantically rich? Here's a 3D "underlay" in @tldraw — 2D control plane, 3D feedback. Depth + movement makes a whole class of information legible. github.com/OrionReed/tldr… a thread 🧵(1/n)

What if UI "primitives" were just compositions of simpler parts? Here's a 'slider' in @tldraw made of arbitrary shapes, with any number of handles, any angle — you can pipe the output any way you like and disassemble it just as easily

What if *any* website could be turned into a canvas with a single click? Rebuilt my website (orionreed.com) last night and added DOM<->Canvas translation allowing you to "break out" into a multiplayer @tldraw canvas at any point. The Regular web, zero magic. 1/n

Constraint-based, interactive graph layout in @tldraw! you play with it here: orionreed.github.io/tldraw-graph-l… repo: github.com/OrionReed/tldr… Lot's of fun potential here, ideas welcome! - select any shapes, hit "G" to toggle graph layout - arrows between shapes become graph edges 1/

Constraint-based force-directed layout of diagrams in tldraw (@steveruizok, @tldraw) — all in realtime and multiplayer! This is just the start, many more exciting things to come!

What if your desktop was an environment for integration instead of just hosting siloed app windows? Here's a 'desktop underlay' in @tldraw which runs on your desktop, lets you pipe data *between app windows* and add scribbles/embeds/etc.

Over the weekend I built a demo of what I've been calling "scoped propagators" — a very simple primitive with remarkably diverse application. The same primitive can turn shapes into buttons, add layout constraints, create dynamic behaviour, and much more...

I added physics simulation to @tldraw, it's a lot of fun and the possibilities are endless: github.com/OrionReed/tldr… Use any shape, make them slippery, bouncy, zero-g, or group them together — you can even control shapes as a player and run around your whiteboard... (1/n)
