    The 2026 World Cup: so much to dislike/deplore, so much to look forward to — as was the case in Qatar and Russia. If you feel conflicted, you're not the only one. But unless the horribly bloated format kills it, the football will still be a joy to behold

    Harry Maguire's performance genuinely one of the worst I've seen in an England shirt. Scarily bad. Excellent for Leicester, adequate for Man Utd last season, beyond awful so far this season. Looks totally frazzled by whatever happened in Mikonos. Needs a break.

    French interior minister says 70% of tickets coming into Stade de France were fake. That would mean 175,000 fake tickets on top of 75,000 attendance Given that, while held at a checkpoint for an hour, I saw zero evidence of any fake tickets, this sounds like TOTAL bullshit

    I know 1) Barcelona didn't reach Champions League final 2) Argentina were poor at the World Cup and 3) it's always on his shoulders if those teams fall short, ... but does anyone seriously think Messi wasn't one of the top three top-performing players in the world last season?
