- Today an alumnus had to say goodbye to his sweet 4 y.o. daughter, Abigail. A driver on their phone caused the accident that has now shattered many lives. We share these purple balloons to raise awareness and to remind others to not use your phone while driving. #putitdownforabbie
- Our faculty recently voted to remove the GRE as a requirement for application to our graduate program. GRE scores included in future applications will be redacted prior to review. This is the first step in our review of recruitment and admissions processes to increase equity.
- As @UofOklahoma offices reopen today, we want to express our gratitude to @NWSNorman, @NWSSPC, @OUemergencyprep, & other colleagues both within and without @NWCNorman who worked tirelessly to keep us and our families safe. Your emotional and mental labor does not go unnoticed.

- As we head into the weekend, we want to let our students and colleagues who work for the federal government know that our thoughts are with them. We are particularly grateful for all of the local @NWS staff working hard to keep us and our families safe.
- We're seeing lots of students post about not getting fellowships/scholarships/etc. that they had applied for; there are no words we can say to ease that hurt, but please keep going! Your faculty and staff believe in you! After a suitable mourning period, get back out there again.

- Our thoughts are with the people suffering due to Hurricane Ida. The residents, in particular, but also the EMs, meteorologists, and other folks who have or will experience trauma while helping. We'll be watching for appropriate ways to help in days to come.
