Our plow drivers work incredibly hard, they don't deserve your disrespect. Here's two plows that were working to help keep you safe on your drive. One on I-71 northbound near Sheldon Rd. and one on I-480 near I-77. Time stamps included.

10:00 PM: Time for a shift change in Cuyahoga County. We are thankful for the hard work these snowplow drivers put in over the past 12 hours. Now they head home for some much-deserved rest and a fresh set of drivers head out to battle the bitter cold and high winds. #ODOTwinter

Drunk driving can have devastating consequences! Over the weekend, one of our ODOT interns working on I-490 had to jump out of the way, nearly being struck by a drunk driver who entered a construction work zone going the wrong way. Please, always #DriveSober!

This is why the "I didn't see a single plow out" complaints hurt us the most. Our drivers do a fantastic job, but they can't stop the snow from falling.

If you were on I-271 at Cedar Rd at 6:40pm you were probably wondering where @ODOT_Cleveland plows were because the road looked "untouched." If you were there 10 minutes earlier you probably thought ODOT was doing a great job. That's how quickly things are changing tonight.

HUGE SHOUTOUT to our crews who worked day & night to prepare Cleveland for an amazing weekend! @MarchMadnessWBB, @CleGuardians, and solar eclipse highlighted the amazing things Cleveland has to offer, and our highway workers made sure visitors had a great experience on our roads!

ODOT has completed work on a new Wrong Way Detection Corridor in Cuyahoga County along I-71 and I-90. This detection system will alert drivers to turn around when entering the highway in the wrong direction and allow law enforcement to react quickly.

Our plow blades alone weigh 2,500 pounds. Hitting one is going to go about like this. So, for your own safety, please, Move Over and Slow Down for flashing lights! This plow strike on Sunday was the first of the year, and we've had 3 more since. Something needs to change.

ODOT Snowplow Fact: Our drivers work in 12-hour shifts and we have the same number of drivers out day or night when there is a snow storm. Over 65 trucks out in District 12 tonight. Don't Crowd the Plows! #ODOTwinter

We can speculate on exactly what happened here, but the fact of the matter is that if you move over or slow down when you see flashing lights, then things like this won't happen. These are free lessons that other people are teaching you. Don't end up like this. #MoveOverSlowDown

It was in the teens last night/this morning. Salt isn't as effective at low temps, when there is less traffic, and the sun isn't out. Between 4:30 and 5, we had a combination of 12 plows on I-480 and I-71. Just because you don't see a plow, doesn't mean they weren't out.

When I left for work this morning (4:45am) the roads were AWFUL. 71, 480, 76 all were sheets of ice & snow. Not a single plow or salt truck in sight.

Thanks to the work of our plow drivers, John was able to traverse I-90 through Cuyahoga County, despite never seeing a truck. But rest assured, they were out there clearing a way for him. And we have the time stamps to prove it.😉
