When disaster strikes, the victims are not Republicans or Democrats. They are Americans. Nine years after Maria, Puerto Rico still isn't ready to face even a Category 1 hurricane. Shame on us. Until my last day here, I will be fighting to do right by the people.

Howard Jordán spent his life lifting up Puerto Rican and Latino voices, from the classroom to the airwaves at WBAI to the streets of NYC. He was a fighter for our community until the very end. My condolences to his family and all who loved him.

A year ago, Republicans gutted health care and food assistance to fund tax cuts for billionaires and unleash ICE on our communities. Today they doubled down, sending $70 billion more for immigration enforcement that's already out of control. I voted NO.

With more than 200 combat missions and 38 decorations, Jorge Otero-Barreto was one of the most decorated soldiers of the Vietnam War. He is a Puerto Rican and American hero. Our nation owes him a great debt. It's long past time he received the Congressional Medal of Honor. I

In 2025, the GOP handed ICE & CBP $170 billion. They used it to terrorize immigrant communities, trample the constitution, & kill US citizens in the streets. Now the Senate voted to give them ANOTHER $70B while working people struggle to get by. The House must kill this bill.
