In case you missed it, I've started writing a memoir of sorts, a collection of my experiences on the crime beat, on Medium. Shall very soon also start writing short fiction. You can show your love by reading and subscribing here:
My female friend broke off her engagement today because the groom and his family were increasing their demands for dowry in various forms every day. Her friends took her out to celebrate her courage. I love this in so many ways. More power to her!
Just to be clear, a dead girl is being shamed in this tweet for the clothes she was wearing.
A girl who died after being run over by a drunk driver who isn't legally of drinking age.
This is Kriti Sanon. She will play Sita in Adipurush. Kriti might be a decent person in real life, but her dance routines in Bollywood movies are completely vulgar. Definitely the wrong person to play the role of the pious Sita who is considered mother by Hindus.
I'm in #MiraRoad . Spent the last few hours walking these streets, had tea with locals and ate at one of Naya Nagar's oldest Irani restaurants.
Nobody stopped me, nobody touched me, nobody attacked me. Nobody even asked me my religion.
Why?
Because I didn't provoke them.
Hello @MumbaiPolice .
This Twitter user is promoting communal disharmony in Mumbai. May I please request some action against this? Happy to register an e-complaint if I have locus standi in the eyes of the law.
Thank you!
To the auto driver who dropped my mom and me home from the clinic and refused to take money because she's a patient: may you never lack for anything in life, sir.
"Won't marry if not given the right to rape" has to be the scariest thing I've heard a man say in recent times, and I've covered the Crime beat in India for 16 years.
This girl I met recently had come out of an abusive marriage. When I let it slip that I was having a tough week at work, her response was to ask, "Would it help if we stopped talking because I feel I'm bringing bad luck to you."
The extent of her trauma hit me in that moment.
