80% of aid in #Yemen enters through Hudaydah, Ras Issa, + Salif ports. The majority of the population suffers from hunger. @hrw found that Israel's last attack on Hudaydah port (in July) was possibly a war crime because of the humanitarian significance. hrw.org/news/2024/08/1….

Human Rights Watch @hrw found in a new report today that #Israel's attack on #Yemen's Hodeidah port may amount to a war crime, and likely used US weapons. The port is critical for humanitarian aid in a country where over half the population is in need.

While Houthis in #Yemen claim they attack (civilian) ships in support of #Gaza, they continue to actively block water from reaching civilians living in Taizz, which has been under #Houthi siege since 2015.

New @hrw report finds that #Houthis have arbitrarily detained + disappeared dozens of civil society, UN staff in #Yemen. Many spent their careers dedicated to improving conditions in their country, only to now be held with no access to family or lawyers.

On our recent visit to #Yemen, @hrw visited a community in Taiz that has been devastated by #Houthi landmines. Many have been killed and severely injured, many more have lost access to their farmland and sources of income.

Even in extreme situations @WHO says people need 15 liters+/day of water minimum to survive. Because of the Israeli gov’s deliberate action in Gaza, Palestinians had 2-9 l/day for over a year. This is extermination & an act of genocide. New @hrw report: bit.ly/4gDEPP0

In January, #Houthis sentenced 32 men to prison, death by stoning/crucifixion, and/or to flogging on dubious charges of "sodomy." This is one of many cases of Houthis charging people with immoral acts as a cover for their brutality + lack of due process.

The #Houthis continued detaining + disappearing NGO and UN staff over the last week, bringing the total to over 50 now. Their families have been forced to spend #Eid without them, and have left many other families across #Yemen fearful for what's to come. hrw.org/news/2024/06/0…
