Rihanna is the perfect person to deliver that message. Her whole career has been about inclusion, with little to no division— whether that was switching genres in music, to the 50 shades of FB, to expanding the sizes in her lingerie line, to genderless clothing for Fenty-LVMH.

I actually have audio of Amerie telling me that when “SOS” dropped a lot of the industry was shook, because it was very rare for Black women back then to go straight to pop radio and be accepted. She praised Rihanna and talked about how inspired she was by that moment.

Someone asked for a GIF, so here y’all go. I also write about the Grammys and all pop shenanigans on harpsichordzine.com which includes music video countdowns, a genre encyclopedia, album reviews, and more 😎

I finally listened, and baby when I tell you, the deep cuts are out of the GP and Stan Twitter’s league, I mean that with all the nastiest I’m surprised it even charted because she on some different type of shit with this one!
.@Tinashe's 'Quantum Baby' debuts at #199 on this week's Billboard 200 (8K sold).

I don’t understand how Billboard hasn’t awarded Tinashe an Innovator Award or Powerhouse Award. Her consistency and ability to stay original despite the criticism she endured for nearly a decade is a testament that you don’t have to fit in with the status quo to have impact.
One thing about tinashe is that she is going to give Janet Jackson her flowers and always talk about Janet being her inspiration. She is an OG #1 Janet stan downnn😭
