- This is a good day for social Europe. We have reached an agreement on the directive on adequate minimum wages in the EU. This is especially important at a time when many households are worried about making ends meet. My thanks to all teams! #EUminimumwages #SocialRights
- Mia completa solidarità alla CGIL vittima della violenza fascista che dobiamo condannare vigorosamente
- A pleasure to welcome 🇪🇸 Ministers @ionebelarra and @IreneMontero to the Berlaymont today to discuss an issue that affects us all and which has been undervalued: care. We count on Spain’s support for the European Care Strategy which the @EU_Commission will present in Autumn.
- 🇪🇸 Positive exchanges today in Spain with Ministers @NadiaCalvino @Yolanda_Diaz_ and @joseluisescriva on social issues. Impressed by the huge reforms in the pipeline. These will help modernise the economy, skill people effectively, and allow for a sustainable recovery.
- Replying to @Mike_Pence and @FoxNewsIt‘s high time for real Republicans who respect the values of the party of A.Lincoln to speak up as you are doing and as you did four years ago to resist this dangerous MAGA policy
- I am very happy that the Council has agreed its general approach on Adequate Minimum Wages. I thank the Slovenian Presidency @EU2021SI and also 🇩🇪 and 🇵🇹 Presidencies for their work on this important file. An encouraging message from Brussels.
- Delighted to announce that @AndreaNahlesSPD has been appointed as my Special Adviser to bolster our work to strengthen social dialogue in Europe and to boost the role of social partners. Her vast experience will help us shape a fairer, more social Europe.
- Replying to @KateMcKenna28My full support and admiration, dear Mette for your courage and the awareness what is at stake:Ukraine’s survival and our security. There is urgency and need for bold action
- The #SocialEconomy has a unique, crucial part to play in the crisis and recovery, especially in fighting #inequality + helping the most vulnerable. Support to social enterprises and entities is vital. On Friday I wrote to 🇪🇺EU #labour ministers to encourage action 👇 #Coronavirus
- A pleasure to be in Madrid to see Minister @ionebelarra ahead of the Spanish Presidency of the EU. We discussed urgent social issues including long term care, the #EUChildGuarantee and combatting homelessness. Confident we can make good progress together.
- 70% of workers on minimum wages find it hard to make ends meet. Many of them are doing essential jobs on the frontline of #Covid19. Applauding then is not enough, we have to recognise the value of their work. #EUMinimumWages
- Our proposal today on the new instrument for Support to mitigate Unemployment Risks in an Emergency #SURE is a very strong signal of European #solidarity. Fast and solid recovery is only possible if we save people’s income and jobs. #COVID19 👉 ec.europa.eu/commission/pre…
