I wrote an op-ed for @GQMagazine on the @Indians name change and the real underlying issues. Please check it out. “Quietly doing away with the name is the easy way out.” Special thank you to GQ’s awesome editor @chrisgayomali and also @JackPMoore.

Notice the difference in talking about a 21-year-old white college player and a 17-year-old from the Dominican Republic, on the same topic of on-field celebrations, literally two days apart.

The note, dated 6/21/11, read: Nick, I admire your dad for all he’s done to bring baseball championships to Boston, but your service in Afghanistan as a Marine makes you the hero in the Francona family. Thank you for your service. Best wishes, Mitt Romney

Translation: MLB leaks to media that owners agreed to a plan that was not done in collaboration with MLBPA, so they can get headlines just like this one, in the hope people will blame the players if they don’t accept further salary cuts in addition to the ones already negotiated.

If cops are “warriors,” who are they at war with? Go on, say the rest of it out loud.
Cleveland reliever James Karinchak launched his Whiffs for Warriors campaign today. He is donating $50 for every strikeout he picks up this year to the Cleveland Police Foundation. Fans can donate as well. pledgeit.org/whiffsforwarri…

It’s weird that it’s always the softest motherfuckers who are whining the loudest about the “decline of masculinity” and “feminization.”
