Spent more than 8 months on this, and it’s the wildest story I’ve ever worked on.
The Tasmanian government covered up literally thousands of cases of child abuse over two decades. The cover up continues to this day.

Funny, I thought the 18 months we spent in various forms of lockdown was for govts to prepare systems of testing, tracing, treatment, etc.
But no: suddenly it’s every person for themselves.
So RATs are unavailable in large part, the PCR test system is closed to all but closest family & symptomatic cases, test nos are falling, results are taking days, case nos & hospitalisations are skyrocketing, no financial support is available, and the PM is cooking curry. Got it.
It is very strange to me that while Labor has an experienced, competent and generally trusted shadow cabinet (Wong, Plibersek, Gallagher, Bowen, Butlers, Chalmers, Burke, Husic etc) and they're up against a rabble of a govt, the entire focus of their campaigning is on Albanese.
Someone pls write about how accountability in Aus has collapsed. How the basic mechanisms to deliver it - Royal Commissions, inquiries, integrity comms, AFP, regulatory bodies like ASIC etc - have become empty simulacra to soak up pressure & waste time.
How none of them work.
The unions are so militant they sent polite warnings requesting action on RATs in June, Aug and December, and now they're seriously requesting it again, this time even claiming the right to take stronger action. They are out of control.
I can’t believe this needs to be said: the journalists who are longtime acquaintances of Christian Porter need to recuse themselves from writing or talking about this issue, unless they declare their potential bias each and every time.
They cannot be regarded as objective.
