🇮🇪A transgender childcare worker in Ireland has lost an employment discrimination case after being fired.
Aleena Starshine, a biological male, was dismissed from a childcare center in Letterkenny after offering an 11-year-old a “free kiss” as a prize during a game and releasing another kid to an unverified adult.
Starshine filed a discrimination complaint alleging the termination was motivated by gender identity and claimed the mother who reported him was transphobic, but the Workplace Relations Commission ruled there was no evidence the firing was discriminatory.
The Commission instead found that Starshine was terminated due to repeated failures to understand professional boundaries and child safeguarding protocols.
