A Beech leaf with a mine containing a caterpillar of the Stigmella tityrella moth. It has bacteria on its body which manipulate the leaf tissue to produce cytokinin, thus maintaining a "green island" of photosynthetic tissue in which it can feed in the autumn. #WildWebsWednesday
