Temperatures will be rising towards the end of this week with mostly sunny skies expected for northern AK with chances of isolated thunderstorms on Thurs. and Fri. for the Interior. Don't get too used to the warm and☀️weather though. A pattern change is possible next week. #akwx

🥶New record set at Kotzebue! At 5am, Kotzebue (PAOT) reached a wind chill (WC) of 13°F. According to Rick Thoman (UAF/ACCAP) and the Sr. Climate Scientist, this is the lowest WC reached this late in the season since 1945. The previous record was a WC of 14°F on 6-17-1985. #akwx

A Frost Advisory has been issued from 2AM to 9AM Tues. AM. Once temperatures drop and skies clear, frost could result. If frost forms, it could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. An SPS has also been issued for most of the Interior for the potential of frost formation. #akwx

Here is a look at this afternoon and evening's thunderstorm chances. Brighter colors indicate a higher likelihood of convective activity. The greatest chances are from McGrath to Fairbanks to Eagle. Thunderstorm chances will decrease tonight and shift southeast for Monday.

A Winter Weather Advisory has replaced the Winter Storm Watch for Atigun Pass. Expect 5–10" of snow and wind gusts up to 30 mph through the Central Brooks Range. Advisory in effect 10 PM tonight through 10 PM Monday. Reduced visibility and hazardous travel possible. #akwx
