- With partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s, it's shaping up to be a pleasant afternoon across the region! A few stray showers will be possible, particularly across NE Vermont, but dry conditions are expected to persist before shower chances increase late tomorrow.
- A year ago to this date, we were dealing with a short lived bout of extreme heat and humidity. We saw unusually high heat index values, including above 110 in portions of the eastern Champlain Valley, which surpassed even the impressive forecasted heat index.
- More beautiful early summer weather is expected with seasonable temperatures and low humidity. There will be a little more wind than yesterday and an isolated shower in northeastern Vermont cannot be ruled out, but it will be largely a dry day.
- Here are the totals from the rainfall yesterday. Southern Vermont saw 1-2 inches but the heavier rain fell apart quickly as it tried to move north.
- Here's a look at a couple patterns of rainfall in Vermont over the past one to two months. We have seen regular rain, which has led to a streak of at least some rain every weekend since May began. Since Memorial Day weekend, rain has fallen more frequently and heavily at times.
- We'll have mostly dry weather for a change during the next couple of days, with only a few or isolated and light showers expected anywhere in Vermont or northern New York. Temperatures will be similar each day and seasonable, reaching the mid to upper 70s for most locations.
- A decaying batch of rain is slowly pushing across the state with scattered showers bubbling in the northern fringes. After exiting east, pockets of showers or drizzle could redevelop across Vermont overnight. We'll see more sunshine tomorrow.
00:00 - Light to moderate rainfall is expected to develop this afternoon and continue into tonight. Rainfall amounts sharply increase towards south-central and southern Vermont, with lower amounts anticipated along the international border.
- Even if temperatures don't feel like the 1st day of summer, radar has the summer look of hit-or-miss thunderstorms. Scattered shower and thunderstorms continue to develop across the region. In addition to lightning, a few could produce very small hail and heavy rainfall.
GIF - Unsettled and cool today and Monday. Warmer and drier Wednesday into Thursday, before more showers arrive by late week into next weekend. Highs mid 60s to mid 70s through Tuesday, warm into the mid 70s to lower 80s by midweek.
- Steady rain continues tonight across the Champlain Islands and northwestern Vermont. 24 hour precipitation estimates in this area are around 1-2 inches. Please use caution in case of isolated flooding and ponding in poor drainage areas.
GIF - Areas of showers have developed across the region this afternoon. They will slowly move through during the rest of the day before gradually dissipating overnight.
